Talk to the animals

Why not boost the animals confidence and praise them on their lovely features? Everyone likes getting complimented, and our shelter animals are no exception!

Read to the animals

The animals love being read to! They are great listeners and love the companionship time. Come in and choose the pawfect book to read from our shelter library.

Train the animals

Our shelter dogs are always working on their manners, and would love some help brushing up on their skills whilst they wait for their forever families. Teach them how to sit by offering treats, positive praise and loads of scratches!

Blow some bubbles

Add a little fun to the animals stay at the shelter and blow some bubbles for their enrichment and enjoyment! There are bubble stations set up all around the shelter, so why not release your inner child and help make a shelter animal’s day.

Activities for all

Families with young children can colour in and make enrichment toys for the shelter animals!

During your visit to the shelter, all children must be supervised at all times and everyone must be suitably dressed for the shelter environment including wearing enclosed shoes. The activities are not suitable for groups larger than five people, as some of the animals can be shy and prefer quiet interactions with smaller groups of people. Please note that peanut butter is used on site.

Activities run seven days a week (except on public holidays), between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you would like to donate any treats or toys to the shelter animals, that would be greatly appreciated! You can call the Sydney Shelter team on (02) 9770 7575 to find out more information about donating.

Make sure to ask the amazing front counter staff for more information and to collect your activities map! We look forward to seeing you at the shelter soon!
