Adopt an RSPCA NSW animal and get a best friend for life. Home What we do Adoptions Adoptions Tens of thousands of animals need RSPCA NSW’s help every year. While most are adopted through our shelters, many are adopted through Care Centres, volunteer branches, and our partnership with Petbarn. To make it easier for you to find your perfect forever friend, the RSPCA introduced Adoptapet. This national website, proudly supported by Bendigo Bank, lets you view the animals awaiting adoption at RSPCA locations across Australia. Being able to rehome these wonderful animals is only made possible by our loyal supporters. If you’d like to join them in making a lifesaving difference to animals in need, please click here. When adopting, don’t forget to bring photographic ID which shows your name and current address, as it will be required at the point of adoption. Please note that if you have an existing pet, you may need to do a meet and greet to ensure the animals are compatible. Also, while Adoptapet is updated frequently every day, there is a chance the animal you are interested in will have found a home prior to you arriving at the facility. How to adopt Step 1Plan Consider your lifestyle and what type of pet would best suit your family. To ensure you can offer a lifelong home, remember to consider the animal’s ongoing expenses. Step 2Search Search all animals available for adoption here, read their profiles and see if they would suit the home you can offer. Step 3Contact Once you’ve found your special friend, contact the facility where the animal is being housed to find out more about the adoption procedure and their opening hours. Step 4Visit Visit the facility to speak with the staff, meet the animal you are looking to adopt and prepare to welcome a new addition to your home. Regularly check your local RSPCA NSW shelter and Adoptapet. RSPCA NSW rehomes many different types of pets, including cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and more. When you have found an animal you’re interested in adopting, please visit the relevant RSPCA facility to meet the animal and discuss adoption with RSPCA NSW staff. Why does RSPCA NSW charge adoption fees? The RSPCA NSW animals who are available for adoption have undergone a comprehensive veterinary check, and been desexed, microchipped, and treated for internal and external parasites. They also have up-to-date vaccinations, and have undergone any other necessary veterinary treatments and rehabilitation. Their adoption fee goes towards covering a portion of these costs and also allows RSPCA NSW to continue caring for other animals in need.
