Outreach Animal Assistance Programs

Our outreach animal assistance programs address the overpopulation of unwanted companion animals and assist people in accessing core veterinary services. .We aim to have a positive impact on animal and human health and welfare, and to reduce the numbers of dogs and cats entering pounds and shelters.

Our schemes offer a range of services including subsidised desexing, microchipping and vaccination. These services are targeted to areas of need in Sydney and regional and remote areas of NSW. These services are generally run in conjunction with local councils and veterinary services.

Means-testing ensures we assist those in a community who are most in need. To ensure valuable veterinary medical resources are given to the people who require it the most, pet owners will need to be able to provide proof of a valid Centrelink benefits card to access these services.

Education campaigns that increase community awareness about the importance of desexing and other aspects of socially responsible ownership are a vital part of the programs.

Our programs include but are not limited to:

  • Community Animal Welfare Scheme (CAWS): Subsidised desexing, microchipping and vaccinations in Sydney and also regional communities of NSW in collaboration with local councils, veterinary services and RSPCA Branches.
  • Community Vaccination Days: Subsidised vaccinations and microchipping in collaboration with local council, veterinary services and RSPCA Branches.

If you are from a local council or veterinary service and are interested in finding out more about our services and how you could set one up in your area please contact one of our RSPCA NSW Community Outreach Officers for more information at outreach@rspcansw.org.au
