Leave a Gift in Your Will

Animals give you a better life. You can leave them a better world.

By including a gift to RSPCA NSW in your Will, your love for animals can live on forever, and help end cruelty and mistreatment for good.

We understand that nothing compares to the bond shared by people and their animal companions. After all, who else but your pet remains by your side providing love and support no matter what? Our furry, finned, and feathered friends provide us with an incomparable sense of purpose, which is why it’s important to remember the animals who miss out on the joys of companionship themselves.

How can we help you?

Types of Gifts that You Can Leave

Leaving a gift in a Will is one of the most impactful and lasting ways to support the animals of NSW. There are several different ways to include RSPCA NSW in your will.

  • Residual: the most effective way to support the animals is leaving RSPCA NSW the remainder of your estate after you have provided for your loved ones, or a percentage of your remaining estate.
  • Percentage: a percentage of your total estate, allowing your gift to maximise as your estate matures.
  • Specific: a fixed sum of money or assets, including properties, investments, or shares.

Follow the steps below to see how you can leave animals with a better world

Consider Your Loved Ones

This is probably the most powerful gift you can ever make. Think about your family, friends and the charitable causes that have meant so much to you in your lifetime.

There are several different ways to include RSPCA NSW in your will, from gifting a percentage of your total estate, to leaving us a fixed sum of money or assets.

Leaving a gift to the animals in your Will is a wonderfully generous act. Why not tell your loved ones of the amazing difference you will make in the lives of animals in need? If you are comfortable, we’d love for you to tell us too so we can thank you for your gift in person. You can also choose to receive updates on how gifts like yours are making a better world for the animals in our care.

We understand that pets are some of our most cherished family members. It’s important to safeguard their future should something happen to you, which is why we’ve developed initiatives like our Home Ever After program.

Write a Will today to create a better world for animals

RSPCA has partnered with Australia’s online Will writing platforms SafewillWilled, and Gathered Here to offer you easy, low-cost options to write your Will. By leaving a gift in your Will to RSPCA NSW you will be joining a community of likeminded people wanting to help change the lives of animals in need.

Gifts left in Wills make a huge difference. They support the care of more than one in three animals annually, plus support our prevention programs, inspectorate, and veterinary clinics statewide. You can be assured that your gift, no matter how big or small, will go a long way in providing the help and care required to give animals the lives they deserve.

Gifts left today will help save the lives of animals for many more tomorrows. We thank you for your foresightedness in enabling us to continue caring for the years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I let RSPCA NSW know if I have made them a beneficiary in my Will?

If you are comfortable with reaching out, please let us know you’ve left us a gift in your Will. This gives us the chance to say thank you, keep you up to date with news and stories from RSPCA NSW, and involve you and your family in relevant special events throughout the year.

Because it is increasingly common for Wills in NSW to be contested, any intentions voiced during your lifetime also help support your choices, should they ever be questioned after your passing.  Email us at wills@rspcansw.org.au or call us on (02) 9782 4419 today to clarify your intentions regarding your gift.

If you have already made your Will and do not plan on updating it, making an amendment could be as easy as preparing a codicil to include a gift in your Will to RSPCA NSW. However, RSPCA NSW recommends that you seek independent professional advice to ensure that any additional wishes are expressed correctly.

You don’t need to be wealthy to leave RSPCA NSW with a gift in your Will. People often find they can afford to be more generous with a gift in their Will than they are during their lifetime, and leaving just a small contribution in your Will can go a long way for those in need. In fact, gifts left to us in Wills help us support nearly two of every three of the animals in our care. They make a monumental difference to supporting our shelters, clinics, and programs, ensuring we can continue helping people and animals for many years to come.

Thank you for considering leaving a gift in your Will. Together, we can create a future free from cruelty for the animals we love so much.
