RSPCA NSW encourages pet owners to keep the welfare of their furry friends front of mind this festive season. 

RSPCA is urgently seeking Guardian Angels to provide safety and care for the 27,114 animals spending the festive season in shelters nationally.

Currently, landlords in NSW can refuse to allow a tenant to keep a pet without providing a reason unless it’s an assistance animal.

RSPCA NSW welcomes amendments to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (POCTAA) which prevents people convicted of serious cruelty offences from owning animals or working for a business that provides care to animals.

A 35-year-old Greenwich man was sentenced at Parramatta Local Court on 30 August 2022, after pleading guilty to five cruelty offences against his 10-month-old Dobermann, ‘Ohlins’. Four further offences relating to the inappropriate confinement of the dog were taken into account on sentence.

RSPCA NSW is calling our equestrian community to give ex-racehorses, like Noodles, a forever paddock and a new lease on life this November.

Expressions of interest are now open to study ACM20121 Certificate II in Animal Care with RSPCA NSW.

It is not too late to step up and take part in the RSPCA Rescue Run and support our inspectors, who are out on the road rescuing animals every day.

Amendments to the Animal Research Act (1985) passed by the NSW Parliament today,  which will give cats and dogs used as research the right to be released into family homes, have been welcomed by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals New South Wales (RSPCA NSW). 

Weddin Shire Council, together with Lachlan Valley Vets on 11 October 2022 successfully desexed 100 cats as part of their strategy to address the overpopulation and welfare of cats in their local council area.
