RSPCA NSW cares for abandoned, neglected, sick and surrendered animals across the state. category1category2 Reset Set the pace for animal welfare with RSPCA Rescue Run Date Updated: Sep 14, 2022 Put your heart and sole into helping our inspectors prevent animal cruelty and save animals in need by participating in the RSPCA Rescue Run, this October. Between 18 – 31 October 2022, animal lovers are urged to run, walk, or roll 56 km for the 56,000 animal cruelty complaints RSPCA receives nationally each year. Stride with pride knowing your cadence will be in solidarity with our RSPCA inspectors who are out on the road every single day, educating the community on responsible pet ownership and rescuing animals who have been subjected to cruelty. “RSPCA NSW has the largest animal enforcement unit in the country. Our inspectorate plays a vital role in the protection and welfare of thousands of helpless animals, each year. Rescue Run is a unique opportunity to directly give back to our inspectors, who selflessly provide support to the humans and animals who need it most,” said RSPCA NSW Community Fundraising Manager, Ben Wilheim. “Although the Rescue Run target of 56km over a two-week period might sound intimidating, when you break it down, the daily average is only 4km per day. We encourage anyone who wants to get their body moving in the fresh air this spring, whilst supporting a very special cause, to sign up to run to the rescue today.” The RSPCA NSW Inspectorate has performed a statutory role in enforcing state animal cruelty legislation for over 94 years. There are currently over 30 dedicated inspectors committed to investigating alleged acts of animal cruelty across the state. Every single dollar raised from Rescue Run will make a difference to the lives of the animals who come into our care: $35 can provide a kennel, bath, and meals for a neglected dog that has been rescued. $55 can help pay for the transport of animals to shelters to increase their chance of being adopted. $100 can help keep one of our brave Inspectors on the road fighting animal cruelty Whether you need to tie your shoelaces or get your wheels ready to roll – it’s never too late to join the fight against animal cruelty.
